Enjoying our trails safely and respectfully ensures a great experience for all users. Whether you’re skiing, snowshoeing, or walking your dog — thank you for following these guidelines.
Dog owners
Dogs are welcome on the Marshall Lake trail network under the following rules:
- Dogs must be leashed (max 3m, attached at waist)
- Owners are fully responsible for their dog’s behavior
- Aggression toward people or other dogs is not tolerated
- Clean up after your dog — bag and dispose in outhouses
- Avoid contact with children, especially during Youth Ski Programs
- Pass other dog users slowly and with advance warning
- Keep dogs off groomed tracks
- Speak to other users violating rules and report concerns to Phoenix Nordic
All those on the trails with dogs must hold a valid Phoenix Nordic season pass
Snowshoers
- Enjoy the designated snowshoe trails
- Stay off groomed ski tracks
- Walk on the outer flat edge of ski trails when sharing space

General rules
- A friendly greeting is always recommended
- Keep to the right; pass on the left
- Pack out all trash — leave no trace
- Yield to faster users
- Faster skaters should step around others when safe to do so.
- Downhill skiers have the right of way
- Ski within your ability
Classic vs skate tracks
- Do not walk or snowshoe over set classic tracks
- If herringbone skating uphill, use skate lane to preserve the classic track
- Move off the trail after falling; fill in any holes [sitzmarks]
- Step, don’t ski onto set classic tracks
Group travel & stops
- Travel single file in groups
- Step to the side when stopping to rest, chat, or re-wax
- Avoid stopping on hills or blind corners
Trail maintenance
At the Dacha shelter
- Carry out what you carry in
- Keep the shelter clean for others
- Notify us if firewood is running low
Trail access
- Always display your season pass
- Day users: buy a day pass or use the honour box
